Consider working with us to make a lasting, legacy gift to the Historical Society as part of your personal financial or estate plans.
The Society has set aside funds in an endowment account, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Southern WI and provides us with scheduled, periodic interest payments that are directed towards special projects. The principal of the fund remains restricted.

Donations to our Collection
The New Glarus Historical Society collects and preserves original, important objects that document and offer opportunities to interpret the history and cultural heritage of the New Glarus area for present and future generations, in accordance with the NGHS mission documented in the by-laws of the NGHS.
If you have an item that you would like the Historical Society to consider adding to its collections, please send an email to: admin@swisshistoricalvillage.org
The individual that responds to your email will ask questions to learn more about your treasure, for example, its age, condition, and its connection to the history of New Glarus. They will also share information with you about the Society’s collection policies, and the reasons that the item may or may not meet our collection criteria.
In general, we may accept donations of items such as: manuscripts, records, books, and other written and printed materials; photographs, prints, paintings, and other visual materials; tapes, recordings and other oral history materials; equipment, furnishings, clothing and other natural, commercial, institutional and personal objects of the past.
However, the preservation, storage and exhibit of historical items requires significant resources in time, space and finances; therefore the Historical Society is unable to collect and maintain all items from the past that may be offered for donation. The NGHS accepts memorabilia only if it represents important themes or episodes in the community’s past (1845-1960s, with some exceptions).
Notes: We are unable to accept items delivered directly to the Swiss Historical Village, without
making prior contact with a Board member and receiving confirmation that the item will be considered as an addition to our collections.
We also do not provide appraisal services for items under consideration for or accepted for our collections.
